The Senate of the Khyber Medical University (KMU) in its 4th meeting held with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmed Ghani, in the chair at the Governor’s House on Tuesday has allowed its management to go ahead with its Vision-2015 development plans, both in respect of its academic and research studies as well as construction of infrastructure facilities.
The establishment of Pakistan Research Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology and Research Institute of Hapatohology and liver Transplant are the most prominent targets as its constituent institution in this respect, which will also have a 100-bed specialized hospital and research centre.
The Governor who is the Chancellor of the University, while talking on this occasion said, “This is an institution of great importance to ensure better health facilities to the people and there is a need to extend every possible financial support for its future development”. While referring to the Visioin-2015 of the University , he said, we definitely would like to have more institutions to produce scholars and experts in various disciplines of health sciences and expressed the confidence that the management of the university will maintain the tempo of achieving the given targets. The University, he remarked, within short span of time, though has developed strong roots yet it requires a lot of support by all concerned both in their individual and collective capacities to materialize the desired goals
